End of 2023… autumn, arts/enterprise etc..
So as 2023 draws to a close I write my final post of the year. A lot has happened this year. I have:
Become an End Point Assessor
Qualified as an EQA
Opened an awarding body centre to deliver the SCQF Level 7 Learning beyond the Classroom alongside Forest School etc….
and …developed a few more bushcraft skills- Kylie making (the throwing stick kind!), pine resin glue, snowshoe making, using friction boards..
As Autumn moved towards winter - we made pumpkin soup and toasted our seeds at Halloween. We also made land art (bonfires etc) with our autumnal leaf collection and preserved our favourites by waxing them…
This term we were exploring material properties and so when making the connections for our wooden picture frames we tested wood slices, cloth and rubber. Most children decided rubber could be stretched and was flexible creating the tighter connection between the wood. Cloth was a bit rigid and the thin wood sections often broke. We then explored our senses making autumnal pictures blindfolded in our frames…
P7 used their woodwork skills to make Christmas items and sell them at their coffee morning to raise funds for more outdoor learning equipments.
Finally, during another project in Perth & Kinross, I put my new friction board skills into practice while exploring the old favourites of tripod shelters and bread on sticks (HUGE!!! bread on sticks!!)
