Back to what I do best with some adjustments for COVID

We are close to the end of October and with some adjustments for COVID I have delivered training for 2 local authorities. I am so excited to be doing what I love to do best, alongside getting back into ‘proper’ teaching through my supply role with Perth and Kinross.

We are all adjusting to the new COVID aware world. My work has evolved and adjusted to cope with social distancing and the required hygiene measures. Equally, each local authority is handling the approach to the pandemic differently and schools/settings are also ‘interpreting’ the rules in a range of ways.

The measures I have taken have included writing a comprehensive Benefit Risk Assessment and protocol to meet government guidelines and NHS advice. Plus, adapting training to comply government guidelines.

These include:

  • Moving outdoor learning training to be fully outdoors

  • Delivering theory elements LIVE online (the closest we can get to face to face in some circumstances)

  • Using resources that can be easily disinfected

  • Taking two sets of resources to swap out for the two half day sessions that I run

With these procedures in place we are getting back to continuing staff training and development in challenging times. The feedback has been very positive and spurs me on to do more….

Solutions can be found to many aspects that hinder us with COVID. Find those solutions and try to normalise life as much as possible for the children and staff working with them is vitally important.

And yes that is me in the powerpoint - pointing as usual, dressed in a tablecloth- ahhh the 70s!!
