New Year, New Lockdown… so back to webinars….
Well here we are in 2021 and back to another lockdown.
At the close of 2020, I was in covering a P2 class for the last few weeks of term. The class had some challenging ‘characters’ and was quite excitable with Christmas approaching. I was contemplating taking the children outside to learn, (something they had not done to date). I had brought some outside in to make mini structures (3d shape exploration) to support the transition out. But then! the support staff colleague who assisted some of the children in my class, tested positive for COVID-19. This meant my class and I were sent home to isolate, I was tested and luckily was negative, and all children, to my knowledge, are ok.
I always try to focus on the positive and at least self isolation (which handily ended 24th Dec) meant I was as safe as could be to visit my elderly parents on Christmas Day. A joy many people didn’t get this year. My isolation time was productive creating further webinars and tidying my jungle/ garden. I feel I have been fortunate so far with this challenge we face.
So 2021 is here, the schools I regularly visit to do Forest School will have to wait until February, at least, for my return. Plus, I won’t get to externally verify centres just yet. But in the mean time I will be continuing with my Facebook/linked in posts providing learning ideas for children/families/educators , webinar creation and presentations for several authorities- Early Years staff, Primary Staff and Childminders. In addition, I am happy to announce I have won a contract to create some webinars for Scottish Forestry for their Forest Kindergarten course in Shelter construction and suspended systems (hammocks and swings). Plenty to be getting on with until hopefully the vaccine roles out and we can return to the new form of reality.
Happy 2021 everyone…. keep on taking those steps forward, nature helps in so many ways - get out there and breath in that fresh bracing 2021 air…
